How to Automatically Crosspost New TikTok Videos to YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels

TikTok content and short-form video are close enough in format that a single video can realistically live on three platforms at once — TikTok itself, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts — without needing to be re-edited for any of them. Once it's set up, this becomes one of the more efficient ongoing crossposting workflows available.

Setting up TikTok as a three-way source

  1. Connect all three accounts — TikTok, Instagram Business or Creator, and YouTube — from the Accounts page in OneUp.
  2. Open the Crossposting menu from the dropdown next to Create a post, and click Add Workflow.
  3. Set TikTok as your source account.
  4. Add both YouTube and Instagram as destination accounts in the same workflow, so one new TikTok video fans out to both automatically.
  5. Filter to video content specifically — TikTok's photo-mode posts won't map cleanly to either Shorts or Reels, since neither format supports that content type.
  6. Launch the workflow. From here, every new TikTok video automatically republishes to both YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.

Why this particular setup is worth the effort

Short-form video is one of the few content types where the same file genuinely works across multiple platforms without reformatting — same aspect ratio, similar length constraints, similar audience expectations. That makes TikTok a strong single source to fan out from, rather than treating each platform as requiring its own separate video.

A couple of adjustments to make per destination

  • YouTube titles matter more for discoverability than TikTok captions do, so it's worth reviewing whether your captions need a stronger title-style rewrite specifically for the YouTube side of the workflow.
  • Watermarks from TikTok exports can look out of place on both Shorts and Reels — cleaner source files avoid this on both destinations at once.
