Replying to comments across multiple platforms is one of the more time-consuming, low-leverage parts of running social media — and one of the easiest to hand off to ChatGPT once it's connected to the right tool. With ChatGPT linked to OneUp's MCP server, you can fetch comments and generate (or directly post) replies without switching between apps.

## How the connection works

ChatGPT connects to OneUp through a custom plugin pointed at OneUp's MCP connector URL, authenticated with your OneUp API key. Once connected, ChatGPT can call OneUp's comment-management capabilities directly — the same functionality behind OneUp's own Social Inbox — triggered from a chat prompt instead of a dashboard.

## Setting up the connection

1. Generate your OneUp API key (gear icon → **API and MCP**).
2. In ChatGPT, go to **Plugins → create a new custom plugin**, and paste in OneUp's MCP connector URL from the API docs.
3. Sign in on the plugin popup, paste your API key, and authorize.
4. In **Installed Plugins**, set permissions to **Allow all actions** so ChatGPT can complete reply workflows without getting blocked mid-task.

## Example prompts for comment automation

> "Fetch the latest comments on my Instagram posts from the past 24 hours and draft a reply for each one."
>
> "Reply to any comment on my Facebook Page that asks about pricing with our standard pricing response, and flag anything else for me to review manually."

## Why draft-and-review beats full automation for comments

Unlike scheduling a post, comment replies are public-facing and reactive — it's usually worth having ChatGPT draft replies for your review rather than auto-posting everything unattended, especially early on while you're calibrating tone and figuring out which comment types are safe to fully automate versus which need a human look.

## Where this scales well

Once you've reviewed enough drafted replies to trust the pattern, you can shift routine questions (hours, pricing, "is this in stock") to auto-reply, while anything more nuanced still comes to you as a draft first.
