Switching from X to Bluesky? Here's How to Bring Your Post History

Bluesky's growth over the last couple of years has pulled a lot of people over from X — sometimes for the algorithm, sometimes for the community, sometimes just to diversify where their audience can find them. Whatever the reason, the same question comes up: does years of posting history on X just… stay there, or can it come with you?

One thing worth knowing upfront: X works a little differently than OneUp's other source platforms. Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok can all be set as a source directly inside OneUp's Crossposting menu. X can't — because of how X's API works, pulling content from X requires going through Grok as a connector first. Once that's set up, though, the result is the same: your X posts flow automatically into OneUp and out to Bluesky.

What You'll Need Before Getting Started

1. A OneUp account with Bluesky (and any other target accounts) already connected
2. Your OneUp API Key
3. Access to Grok

Step 1: Get Your OneUp API Key

1. Log into your OneUp account and go to the Accounts page to confirm Bluesky is connected.
2. Click the gear dropdown menu in OneUp and select API and MCP.
3. Copy the API key shown on that page.

Step 2: Connect OneUp to Grok via MCP Connector

1. Open Grok and navigate to the Plugins section.
2. Click New Connector, then Add a custom connector.
3. Name your connector (e.g., OneUp).
4. For the Server URL, grab the MCP connector URL from the OneUp API documentation.
5. Paste the URL, replacing the placeholder text with your actual OneUp API key.
6. Click Add Connector to finish linking Grok to OneUp.

Step 3: Set Up Your Automation Prompt in Grok

Once connected, tell Grok what you want synced. For this use case, prompt Grok to sync your X account's posts over to your Bluesky account.

Step 4: Test and Verify the Automation

1. Publish a test post (with an image or video) on X.
2. In Grok, go to the Automations tab to see your active setup.
3. Automations check for new X posts every hour by default, but you can click Run Now to trigger an immediate test.
4. Check back in OneUp to confirm the X post was scheduled or published to Bluesky.

What actually transfers

• Text posts carry over cleanly, since both platforms are primarily text-based
• Images attached to your X posts transfer along with the caption
• Native video posts on X can be crossposted as video on Bluesky as well

The steps above set up ongoing syncing — new X posts flowing to Bluesky automatically going forward, checked hourly by Grok.
