A crossposting workflow can run for months without issue and then suddenly stop pushing content to a destination account, or send something that doesn't look right once it lands. Before assuming the whole workflow is broken, it's worth checking through the most common causes first.
The most common reasons a post doesn't crosspost correctly
A connected account's authorization expired. Social platforms periodically require accounts to be re-authenticated — if a destination account's connection has lapsed, new content stops flowing there even though the rest of the workflow keeps running normally. Check the Accounts page for any account showing a disconnected or expired status.
The content type wasn't included in the workflow filter. If a workflow is scoped to video only, and you post an image, it simply won't crosspost — this isn't an error, it's the filter working as configured. Double-check what content types your workflow is actually set to include.
The destination platform rejected the content for a format reason. Some destinations have specific requirements — Pinterest needs a board and an image, YouTube needs an actual video file, Google Business Profile posts need to fit within its own content guidelines. A post that doesn't meet a destination's requirements won't publish there, even if it published fine everywhere else.
The source account itself changed something. If you switched a personal Instagram account to Business or vice versa, or changed which Facebook Page is linked to Instagram, the crossposting workflow's connection to that account can be affected until it's reconfirmed.
For X specifically, the Grok automation needs its own check. Since X requires Grok as a connector rather than OneUp's native Crossposting menu, an issue here often means checking Grok's Automations tab directly, rather than looking inside OneUp first.
How to troubleshoot systematically
- Check the Accounts page for any connection issues on either the source or destination account.
- Review the workflow's content type filters to confirm the post that didn't crosspost was actually eligible.
- Check the destination platform's specific requirements (board, video file, image, etc.) against what was posted.
- If the source is X, check Grok's Automations tab and try Run Now to manually trigger a sync and see if it surfaces an error.
- If everything checks out and the issue persists, it's worth reaching out to OneUp support directly rather than continuing to troubleshoot blind.
